Million Young People Are Unemployed. We Need a New ‘Tree Army.’ The Depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps helped build America at a time of national crisis. Our Nurtured By Nature programme allows local community groups from hard-to-reach audiences to experience the arboretum and connect with the amazing trees that grow here, through a range of activities designed to boost well-being and mental health. These activities can include anything from learning traditional woodland management skills, to mindfulness based activities to campfire cooking!

In September , Hurricane Maria, a deadly category 5 hurricane devastated Dominica, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Amidst the devastation was the El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest among the USDA Forest Service’s million ly lush and green, the forest was left denuded and nearly unrecognizable. forestry, the management of forest lands for wood, water, wildlife, forage, and e the major economic importance of the forest lies in wood and wood products, forestry has been chiefly concerned with timber management, especially reforestation, maintenance of the extant forest stands at prime condition, and fire control.

LibriVox recording of The School Book of Forestry by Charles Lathrop Pack. Read in English by KHand Written by a third-generation timberman, this book discusses what forests are, their primary enemies, and their benefits to others. Additionally, mention is made of the U.S. National Forest system. Wholistic Forestry Management no wonder many people concerned about forests practically cringe when they hear the word "timbering". My personal opinion is that nature knows what it's doing.
